Modi had also addressed an election rally in Ajmer 2013. The Rajasthan assembly elections are due later in 2018.

The BJP, which lost the Ajmer Lok Sabha constituency to the Opposition Congress in the bypolls held earlier in 2018 is attempting to build a favourable mood among the voters by bringing Modi into the fray.

The rally will mark the conclusion of Vasundhara Raje’s ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’ that had begun from Charbhujanath temple.

Rajasthan BJP president Madan Lal Saini along with Raje and other eminent leaders reviewed the conditions on Friday and decided the preparations for the rally to be held at the Kayad Vishram Sthali on the outskirts of Ajmer. Around three lakh people are expected to attend the rally.

"This will be a historic rally of the prime minister which will be participated by a large number of people," Onkar Singh Lakhawat, the chairman of Rajasthan Heritage Preservation and Promotion Authority, said, adding that the workers were “fully geared up and filled with enthusiasm” for the rally.
