Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday suspended six Congress MPs for creating ruckus in the House when they stormed into the well and tore apart the papers. The Congress lawmakers also threw pieces of papers at the Speaker.
The lawmakers who have been suspended are Gaurav Gogoi, K.Suresh, Adhiranjan Chowdhary, Ranjeet Ranjan, Sushmita Dev and MK Raghavan.
The Lower House witnessed uproar over mob lynching when opposition parties started shouting against the government alleging inaction of state governments despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance on the issue.
Congress leader Malikaarjun Khadge said incidents of mob lynching have created an atmosphere of fear among women and children.
During the discussion in Zero hour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present in the house.
BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said Genie of Bofors has come out of the bottle again as a proper investigation never took place in the matter. In fact, it was scuttled, she said.
