A massive fire broke out in a plastic factory near Sufia Chowk in Ludhiana on Monday morning, resulting in a building collapse. The rescue work is still underway to minimise the casualties.

As per reports, 10 people are feared to be dead and several people are feared to be trapped under the rubble. While six have been rescued so far, the rescue operation is still going on.

District Commissioner of Ludhiana Pradeep Aggarwal said 10 bodies have been recovered so far.

The four-storey structure collapsed around noon after a major fire broke out in the plastic manufacturing factory in Ludhiana's industrial area on Monday morning. The fire broke at around 8 am in the morning and 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been carrying out the rescue and search operations at the spot.

An FIR has been registered against the plastic factory owner Inderjeet Singh by the Ludhiana police.
