A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders met Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon on Saturday and requested him to conduct the floor test on March 16 i.e. Monday. Those who met the Governor are Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Gopal Bhargava, Narottam Mishra, and Bhupendra Singh. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chouhan said that the government is trying 'delay tactics'. "We want an immediate floor test… we have no problem if it happens tomorrow," he said.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath met the Governor at Raj Bhavan in Bhopal. He requested the Governor to allow the 'floor test in the forthcoming session of the assembly on a date fixed by the Speaker'. Handing over a letter to Governor Tandon, CM Kamal Nath alleged horse-trading of MLAs by BJP in Madhya Pradesh. He also urged the Governor to ensure 'release of MLAs held in captivity in Bengaluru'.
“Floor test will happen on Governor's address and budget but it is only possible when 22 MLAs are freed from captivity”, the Madhya Pradesh CM told reporters after meeting governor Tandon.
Meanwhile, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has termed the incident of Congress workers showing black flags to BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia "shocking" and demanded action against those involved in the "attack".
"You can simply imagine the kind of situation prevailing in the state. A government which has lost majority is engineering attacks. I strongly condemn this incident and appeal to police and administration to take swift action against those responsible for this attack on Scindia," Chouhan said in a statement.
"The law and order situation has totally collapsed in the state," he said.
Chouhan claimed that Scindia's vehicle was stopped and stones pelted at it in the "life-threatening attack". With great difficulty, the driver managed to take the car carrying Scindia away from the spot, he said.
