A government teacher in Madhya Pradesh has been suspended by the government for allegedly defecating in the open.

The suspension order was issued by the Ashoknagar district education officer on Monday stating that defecation amounted to misconduct and violation of the government directives.

The suspended teacher was posted as a government primary school in Ashoknagar’s Budera village, around 190 kilometers from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal.

Aditya Narayan Mishra, Ashoknagar district education officer, said, “In accordance with the directives given by the district collector, the education department has suspended the primary teacher.”

The education officer added that the primary teacher was found violating government’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

He added that under the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ teachers are entrusted with the task of keeping a tab on people who defecate in the open.

“The teacher was found defecating in open despite of having a toilet at his home,” added Mishra.
