The Maharashtra government on Saturday announced an ex-gratia of Rs four lakh to the kin of those who lost their lives in the tragic bus accident in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, adding the medical expenses of those injured will be borne by the government.

33 people were killed after a bus carrying them plunged into a 500-feet-deep gorge at Ambenali ghat area in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in the bus accident and said he was pained by the loss of lives.

“Pained by the loss of lives due to a bus accident in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones”, the prime minister said in a statement.

Expressing grief over loss of lives in the tragic accident, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the administration was trying to provide all the necessary assistance and said his thoughts were with the families who lost loved ones.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also conveyed his condolence and appealed his party workers to provide all possible assistance.
