Maharashtra government on Monday issued a circular relaxing the ban on construction activity around defence lands in state.
"GoM issues a circular in accordance with the guidelines by Dy Dir (Lands), Ministry of Defence, for relaxing construction ban around defence lands," Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in a tweet.
This circular has now reduced the restricted zone to just 10 metres from defence establishments and installations, he said. "Huge relief to people living in dilapidated buildingsaround central ordinance depots. Relief to Jalgaon, Pune,Kolhapur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Aurangabad," he said.
The move is mainly aimed at removing hurdles in redevelopment of homes situated in the vicinity of defence land. Earlier, it was mandatory for land owners, societies,and developers taking up construction activity near defenceland to obtain a prior No-Objection Certificate (NOC) fromdefence authorities.
