A Mumbai court will hear the bail plea of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, an accused in 2008 Malegaon blast case, on June 6. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had decided to drop her name from the list of accused in its chargesheet after which Pragya's lawyer Prashant Maggu filed the bail plea.

The NIA had on May 13 decided not to name Pragya in its chargesheet in connection with the Malegaon blast case. Under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), the NIA had dropped charges against her.

The NIA had recommended discharging of four accused in its chargesheet – Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Shyam Sahu, Shiv Narayan Kalsangra and Praveen Takkalki. It said no evidence was found against them.

In 2009, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad had chargesheeted Lt. Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur in the case. At least 6 people were killed and 101 others were injured in the 2008 Malegaon blast. The case was handed over to the NIA in 2011.
