In Haryana infamous for skewed sex ratio, a man organised religious ceremony and a feast today for residents of his village to celebrate the birth of his daughter.
Sanjay, a resident of Kinana village here, organised the feast for the villagers where music and drums were played.
“We are very happy that my first child is a girl. Nowadays, there is no difference between boys and girls,” he said.
Sanjay’s gesture earned him appreciation from the panchayat.
Announcing that the families which celebrate birth of a girl child in the village would be felicitated, Simarjeet Kaur, Sarpanch of the village, said the locals are bringing awareness about female foeticide among residents of other villages.
