The Bhartiya Janata Party staked claim to form government in Manipur on Sunday. BJP MLAs met Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla on Sunday to form government in the state.

Biren Singh is likely to be next Chief Minister of Manipur whereas Biswajit Singh is likely to be given post of Deputy Chief Minister.

Manipur on Saturday threw up a hung assembly with the ruling Congress bagging 28 of the 60 seats and the BJP winning 21.

The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) and the National People’s Party (NPP) bagged four seats each. The Lokjanshakti Party, Trinamool Congress and an Independent candidate won one seat each.
