Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Saturday announced that the lone Lok Janshakti Party MLA in Manipur will support BJP. "The LJP candidate from Manipur Karam Shyam has won the election and he will support the BJP.
In Manipur, the LJP will support the BJP," the LJP chief tweeted. Paswan-led LJP is an ally of the BJP. Shyam won from Manipur's Langthabal assembly constituency by defeating his nearest contender, O Joy Singh of the BJP. He got 9,625 votes while Singh 7,294 votes.
Of the total 60 seats, the ruling Congress bagged 25 seats and is leading in one constituency in Manipur, which seems to be heading for a hung assembly. Putting up a creditable performance, the BJP has won 20 seats and is ahead in one constituency in the north-eastern state.
