Shiv Sena, an ally of the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party on Friday criticized Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and said he was a complete failure as a Defense Minister.
The statement from Shivsena came as a reaction to a viral video in which Manohar Parriker is seen as saying that he may go back to the Centre if he loses the upcoming Assembly by-polls in Goa.
Slamming the former defense minister, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, "There are by-elections in Panaji. It seems he is afraid that he will lose and the people will not accept him. This is a democracy; if your people do not choose you and you lose, then go and sit at your home. You say, I will go to the Centre and be the defense minister again after losing. Is defense ministry of the country a game?"
Raut's remarks came after Shiv Sena criticized Parriker in an article published in party's mouthpiece "Saamna" saying the viral video has busted the "honest politician image" of Goa CM.
Parriker was India's defense minister from November 2014 to March 2017. He resigned from the post to become chief minister of Goa on March 14 this year.
The bypolls in Panaji and Valpoi constituencies of Goa will be held on August 23.Parrikar is contesting from Panaji constituency against Girish Chodankar of the Congress and Anand Shirodkar of Goa Suraksha Manch.
