Mauni Amavasya Vrat 2017 is being celebrated on January 27. This is the occasion where people observe Maun Vrat, in which people dedicate and try connecting to one's inner self and soul. It also away when people try to connect to God.

As per the mythology, during the churning of an ocean in ancient times, a pot filled with Amrit came out. Some drops of the Amrit fell down in the river due to which it became extremely valuable. This is the reason that Mauni Amavasya is considered as sacred and People take a holy dip in river Ganges and observe Maun Vrat.
