Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Friday appreciated the Hyderabad Police for its strong action against the accused in the gangrape and murder of a 25-year-old veterinarian. Mayawati also asked the Uttar Pradesh Police to take inspiration from Hyderabad cops.
Mayawati said, "The action that has been taken by the Hyderabad Police is praiseworthy." "In UP, this is happening every day not just in one district but in every district. Be it young girls or aged women, nobody is being spared. There is jungle raj in UP," the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, adding that when she was chief minister she had acted even against members of her own party.
Mayawati further asked the UP police to take inspiration from Hyderabad police and take strict action against culprits in such cases. "Uttar Pradesh and Delhi police will have to change," she added.
The statement from Mayawati comes hours after all 4 men accused of raping and killing the Hyderabad veterinary doctor in cold blood were allegedly shot dead in a police 'encounter'.

Talking exclusively to News Nation, the victim’s uncle said, “The encounter would send a strong message in the society.” When asked if he thinks that ‘justice was done’, Dr Narayan Reddy, the elder brother of doctor’s father flatly said no. He said, “the encounter won’t bring back our daughter.” In same breathe, however, he added that the encounter would definitely serve as deterrent. “I am getting calls from people all over the world. Everyone is saying that ‘achcha hua’. Haan, we are bit relaxed,” Dr Reddy said.
