The Meteorological Centre in Patna on Saturday forecast ‘thunderstorm with rain’ in major parts of Bihar including Patna on Sunday while Gaya was the hottest place in the state at 39.6 degree Celsius.

The Met bulletin forecast thunderstorm with rain in major cities of Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea on Sunday.

Gaya was the hottest place in the state that recorded the maximum temperature at 39.6 degrees Celsius followed by 37.6 degrees Celsius in Bhagalpur, 36.5 degrees Celsius in Patna and 36.0 degrees Celsius in Purnea, it said.

The increased temperature coupled with high level of humidity made life difficult for Patnaites.

The morning humidity level hovered between 74 to 81 per cent in Patna, Bhagalpur and Purnea while their evening humidity level was recorded between 66 to 74 per cent, Met office said.

Among the four major cities, Gaya registered the lowest humidity level at 58 per cent in the morning while 47 per cent in the evening.

The bulletin said that Patna and Gaya registered ‘trace’ while light to moderate rainfall occurred at a few places in the state in past 24 hours.

Places like Rosera and Samastipur received 5 cm rainfall each while Aurangabad, Khagaria and Barahia registered a rainfall of 3 cm each.
