Actor Alok Nath is likely to get arrested by Mumbai Police after an FIR was filed against him on charges of raping writer Vinta Nanda about two decades ago, according to sources. Mumbai Police Additional CP Manoj Sharma registered the FIR under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, reported news agency ANI.

Alok Nath, who was accused of rape by writer-producer Vinta Nanda last month during the #MeToo movement, was expelled by the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) on Tuesday.
Vinta Nanda on Wednesday said, ''The moment I penned the truth on Facebook on 8th October 2018, it felt like I had released myself from the prison of fear. Today, I am glad the FIR has been finally lodged. I trust the Mumbai Police. I know that when things have finally come this far, justice will prevail. I have full faith and confidence in the country's judiciary''.

Recently, in view of the various allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Alok Nath, Executive Committeeof CINTAA has decided to expel him from the Association.
"In view of the various allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Mr Alok Nath, after due diligence and consideration, the Executive Committee of CINTAA has decided to expel him from the Association," CINTAA, which has previously sent show-cause notice to Nath, said in a statement issued on Twitter.
Vinta Nanda is popularly known for her superhit 90s show Tara while Alok Nath became a household name for his work in family-centric films including 'Hum Aapke Hai Koun', 'Hum Sath Sath Hai' and 'Maine Pyaar Kiya'. Apart from films, he is also known for his role in the popular TV show 'Buniyaad'.

The 62-year old actor, however, told news agency PTI that he was yet to receive any official communication. "I have not received anything from CINTAA yet," he said.
