New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday carried out a huge rally in Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds prior to the elections atmosphere in the state.

Modi described the Congress government in Karnataka as a “10 per cent commissioned which facilitated “ease of doing murder” rather than ease of doing business.”

“This is a 10% sarkar. That means they take that much out of every scheme that is implemented. Yahan ulti Ganga behti hai (the Ganga flows backwards here),” he said while listing several funds the Centre had given for providing schemes, housing, roads and smart cities to Karnataka, which in turn were left unspent.

This was in-line with the charges BJP President Amit Shah had put on the Opposition- corruption charges and allegations of minority pacification. He had alleged that the Congress leaders in the state had gobbled up about Rs 1.3 lakh crore out of the Rs 2.6 lakh crore budget allocated to the state.

Modi, indirectly, also addressed the gathering about the murder of the youth in Bengaluru who was said to be a BJP Yuva Morcha worker. He said, “This is not a government that supports ease of doing business. It supports ease of doing murder. People are killed here for their political views.”

Dodging all these allegations, Congress state unit President G Parameshwara, said, “The PM should not make such statements or call us a '10% government' without giving any proof to back this. As for the killings, only 9 out of the 22 alleged by BJP have a communal angle; the perpetrators have been arrested and cases have been filed against them.”

In his Sunday rally, PM Modi also spoke about the present budget and how it will bring a positive change in the farmer society. “Even farmers producing fruits and vegetables are important to us. They have top priority. If you go to any corner of India, you will find three vegetables — tomato, onion, and potato. That is why I call it top priority — the T of tomato, the O of Onion and the P of potato — TOP priority. Keeping these farmers in my mind, we announced Operation Greens in the Budget. Like how Amul is a model in the milk sector for enhancing the income of dairy farmers, Operation Greens will assure incomes for tomato, onion, potato… and all vegetable farmers,” he said.

He told the gathering that the BJP works on ‘reform, perform, transform’ policy. He said, “Our government is working on the principles of reform, perform, transform. We try to solve the smallest of problems. In administration, in our policies and through our way of working, we are bringing change.”

Modi also congratulated the Under-19 cricket coach Rahul Dravid, who is basically from Karnataka. “I congratulate Dravid for ensuring the World Cup for the U-19 team. He exemplifies the nature of the Karnataka people to be selfless and supportive. This state should not have such a bad government. We have given a lot of project for this state. If the government here is the same as ours, these will get implemented. Vote for a government under (state party president) BS Yeddyurappa,” he said.

Karnataka is all set for its assembly elections in about two months from now, and both Congress and BJP are fighting “a trench war” to win it.
