Day after glittering oath-taking ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Modi Cabinet 2.0 announced the much-anticipated portfolio allocation on Friday. Contrary to the speculations, PM Modi’s most-trusted lieutenant Amit Shah has been appointed as new Home Minister. The buzz was strong that Shah will get the coveted finance ministry. With this, the dynamic duo of Modi and Shah are mirroring the ‘Gujarat Model’, where Modi was Chief Minister and Shah was at the helm of affairs at state home ministry. The BJP’s Chanakya has been credited as transforming the saffron party. On expected lines, former foreign secretary turned minister S Jaishankar has got the External Affairs ministry while Smriti Irani will be the new Women and Child Development Minister along with retaining the Textile Ministry, according to the Rashtrapati Bhavan press release.
