To chalk out its strategies on crucial issues, Congress leaders met the party President Sonia Gandhi ahead of the monsoon session which is slated to start from Monday.
According to sources, Congress is seeking to corner BJP in both the houses on Arunachal issue in the wake of the Supreme Court judgement reinstating the Congress government as on 15 December, 2015.
The monsoon session may get a stormy start with Opposition targeting centre on a host of issues like India’s failure to secure NSG membership, Kashmir violence, abuse of Governor's office to destabilise State governments. The last few sessions of Parliament have seen frequent face-offs between the ruling and the Opposition benches.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Modi said the important Bills, including the GST, are to be taken up during the session and expressed hope that there would be meaningful discussions and outcomes. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the government has lined up 16 Bills this session.
