Mortal remains of ND Tiwari reach Lucknow, leaders pay tributes

Leaders across political divide Saturday paid their last respects to Congress veteran N D Tiwari in Lucknow. His body reached Lucknow this afternoon by an air ambulance. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister N D Tiwari passed away on Thursday in a hospital in Delhi after prolonged illness. He was 93. Tiwari was admitted at the Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket in the national capital on September 20, 2017 following a brain-stroke.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his ministerial colleagues received the mortal remains at the airport here. 

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was also present at the airport.

The body was taken to UP Vidhan Bhawan, where leaders from different political parties had gathered to pay their tributes to Tiwari.

The former chief minister of undivided Uttar Pradesh for four terms was also the first elected chief minister of Uttarakhand.

The veteran leader also served as a Union minister in several Congress governments and as the Andhra Pradesh governor.
