MP Education Minister Diktat: Answer attendance call in schools with ‘Jai Hind’

To “instill a sense of patriotism among the youth,” Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Vijay Shah on Sunday decreed that from now onwards, the students in all government schools shall answer their roll-call with “Jai Hind” instead of "Yes Sir", "Yes Ma'am.

“From now in Govt schools during attendance call, students will reply with 'Jai Hind' instead of 'Yes sir' or 'Yes Madam'. This will instill a sense of patriotism among the youth.I don't think anyone will have an objection to it,” Shah told news agency ANI.

The Education Minister was addressing a gathering of NCC cadets on the occasion of National Cadet Corps Day when he made this announcement.

Earlier, the system of answering roll-call with “Jai Hind” was implemented in the government schools of Satna district as an experiment from October 1.

The bizarre order came days after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s said that people of India should use words “Mata” for mother and “Pita” for father.
