Two farmers in Madhya Pradesh's remote village received Rs 2000 notes without Mahatma Gandhi image from SBI bank on Thursday.
In Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district, the farmers were handed Rs 2000 notes that did not have an image of Mahatma Gandhi imprinted on it.
The bank official said that it's not a case of counterfeit currency but probably it was some printing error. Â RK Jain, SBI officer said, ''It is not fake currency, it is a misprint; sent it for probe''.Â
Fake currency reports have been doing rounds since after the demonetisation drive on November 8. Last month, Odisha police recovered Rs 4.8 lakh in fake Rs 2000 currency.
Recently, three people were arrested after police recovered Rs 7.64 lakh in Rs 2,000 fake notes in Kanpur.
