MP govt primary school children asked to clean toilet with mid day meal plates

In a shocking incident, news of school children being made to clean toilet with the plates of mid day meal has surfaced from Doli village in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh (MP).

The incident that happened on Wednesday triggered many parents to complain to the school authorities when their children confessed that they were asked by some teachers to clean the toilet using the utensils in which they were served their mid-day meal.

"After returning from school, my daughter told me that she and other students were told to clean the waste (humanexcreta) in the toilet with the mid-day meal dishes (thalis), said one of the parents named Guddu Kushwaha.

However the school authorities have denied any such allegations.

What is worse is that some staff members including teachers of the school have come out in support of the action saying that it is a cleanliness drive.

Rakesh Tantawai, a teacher, said there was nothing wrong with the cleanliness campaign.

District Collector Shriniwas Sharma ordered an inquiry into the incident. "I have told the district project coordinator (DPC) of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan to conduct an investigation. A team of officials was also sent for investigation today," he said.
