Hours after the Mughalsarai Junction railway station was officially renamed after RSS ideologue Deen Dayal Uphadyaya on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said changing of names will not lead to development.
“By changing Mughalsarai station’s name to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, trains won’t start coming on time, they should rectify the mismanagement in railways. Changing of names won’t lead to development,” ANI quoted Rajbhar as saying.
BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated Deen Dayal Upadhyaya railway station, which was formerly known as Mughalsarai Junction, in the presence of Union Railway minister Piyush Goel and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Upadhyaya was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the Mughalsarai station in February 1968.
On Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary in 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government had put up the proposal to rename the railway station.
