TMC leader Mukul Roy said that he will be resigning from Trinamool Congress working committee on Monday.
Mukul said that he will reveal the reason behind resigning from the party after Durga Puja.
"With a heavy heart, I am announcing that I will quit the primary party post of Trinamool Congress and the Rajya Sabha membership. I will formally resign after the Durga Puja break," said Mukul Roy in press conference.
For a long time, Mukul was considered as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s right hand.
However, there were reports in recent times which speculated Mukul’s chances of joining Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
