Muzaffar Hussain Baig, senior PDP leader and former Member of Parliament, on Tuesday said he would leave the party if the third front emerges, which is also what the Peoples Conference-led by Sajad Lone is aiming at, in Jammu and Kashmir. Baig targeted PDP and National Conference leadership for its decision to boycott local body elections. According to Baig, the PDP failed to live up to its vision.

“It is to be decided by the highest court which is not afraid of taking bold decisions. The logic is flawed and if the case (Article 35A) takes years, will the NC and the PDP boycott the assembly and Parliament elections till that time?” Kashmir Reader quoted Baig as saying.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, he said: “I know the reason why the NC called for the boycott. It was a defensive step that they took because of the comments of senior leader in Delhi to overcome the resentment, they called for boycott of elections.” Baig also questioned why did the PDP follow the decision.

Reacting to Baig’s statement, Lone said that he was “humbled” by Baig’s statement.

“I am humbled by Muzaffar Beigh Sahib’s statement. A person of his stature, experience and intellect can be the defining attribute of the emerging third party @JKPC_   I remember him as my favourite uncle during my childhood. I was his pampered brat. @SafinaMBaig.”
