The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday found few human bones at the cremation ground while looking for the remains of girls who were allegedly killed in Muzaffarpur shelter home.
As many as 34 girls were drugged, raped, forced to sleep naked at the state-run Muzaffarpur shelter home by its politically connected owner Brajesh Thakur and staff. Some of the girls who objected to this were killed and buried at unidentified location.

The CBI team was searching for the bodies or remains of the girls who were killed. On Wednesday sleuths of the CBI reached the local cremation ground following a tip-off from Thakur’s driver. The investigators found some human bones during the excavation.
The agency confiscated the human bones to carry out DNA tests, and other forensic examination to ascertain the identity of the remains, they said
The infamous incident came to light after a report from Tata Institute of Social Sciences alleged sexual abuse of about 34 girls at the shelter home following which an FIR was registered against Thakur and 9 others.

After massive public outrage, the Nitish Kumar government handed over the probe to the CBI. Bihar social welfare minister Manju Verma had to resign in August after it was disclosed that her husband had spoken to Thakur several times between January and June this year.
