Muzaffarpur Shelter Home case: Handover case to CBI, orders Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday ordered Principal Home Secretary, Chief Secretary and DGP to hand over the investigation of the Muzzafarpur Shelter Home case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Earlier, Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav had alleged that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has a connection to the NGO owner in subject and is trying to take the issue lightly just to protect the accused.

"Owner of the NGO that runs the shelter home is close to CM Nitish Kumar, had even campaigned for him in elections," Tejashwi Yadav had said.

However, Police had started an investigation and dug in and around the shelter home following reports of minor deaths and burying of bodies in shelter home premises.

In the last few years, the reported cases of minor rapes and deaths in India have increased at a shocking rate, and as per the latest data, crimes against minors have increased to around 11 per cent in last few years.
