President Ram Nath Kovind today addressed joint session of both the Houses of Parliament. Addressing the newly-elected lawmakers of the 17th Lok Sabha as well as the members of the Rajya Sabha, President Kovind spoke about bumper poll verdict and the continuing the journey of development. “The people of the country have given a very clear mandate in the elections. After evaluating the government's first term, the citizens have given even stronger support for the second time. By doing so, the people of the country have mandated the development journey since 2014 to be unimpeded and fast-moving.”

He also hailed the women’s participation in the General Elections. “This time, women have voted in large numbers and their contributions have been almost equal to men.” Lauding the Centre’s new motto, President Kovind said that the “(Modi) government is constantly working for “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”. He also said that efforts are on to better the citizens’ ‘Ease of Living’. Quoting Nobel Laureate Ravindra Nath Tagore, President Kovind said that the new India is moving forward to fulfil Tagore’s ideals: “Where people's minds are fear-free, and their head is high with self-respect.” “My government is moving ahead to create strong, secure and inclusive India,” President Kovind said.
