BJP's N Biren Singh on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur. The oath was administered by Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah at the Raj Bhawan. NPP's T Joykumar sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
BJP president Amit Shah congratulated Singh and his cabinet colleague on formation of new government in the state. Shah had to attend the oath taking ceremony and he had to hold a road show (Abhinandan Samaroh) in Imphal with other senior party leaders, but due to technical snag in aircraft, he returned to Delhi.

The saffron party won 21 seats for the first time in state where it had no representation in the assembly in past.

The possibility emerged after the four Naga People’s Front (NPF) MLAs had met Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla and extended their support to the BJP for the formation of the new government in the state.
On Monday, outgoing Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had submitted his resignation after Governor Najma Heptullah said she could not start the process of government formation in the state that has got a hung Assembly, till he quits.
