Nandamuri Harikrishna, Telugu actor and TDP leader, died in a road accident in Telangana on Wednesday, according to reports.
"Actor and TDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna died in a car accident in Telangana's Nalgonda district," the news agency ANI reported.
The vehicle in which Nandamuri, son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao was travelling, met with an accident on the Narketpally-Addanki highway in Nalgonda district. Following the mishap, Nandamuri was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. He suffered serious wounds on his chest and head.

The accident took place at about 6:30 am in Nalgonda, 100 km from Hyderabad. Harikrishna, the former parliamentarian was thrown out of the driver's seat after his SUV, a Toyota Fortune hit a divider and flipped, landing on its side.
As per the police reports, Harikrishna was on his way to Nelloree and was driving at a speed of up to 150 km per hour to make it to a wedding function by 9 am.
Talking about Harikrishna's political career, the 61-year-old leader was elevated state transport minister back in 1980 after NTR became Andhra Pradesh chief minister. The TDP leader was also the brother-in-law of now Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and a member of the politburo of the state's ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

In 2014, Harikrishna's son Janakiram also died in an accident near Nalgonda.
Harikrishna is survived by his wife, daughter Sushasini and two sons Kalyan Ram and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who are also part of Tollywood industry.
