In a huge jolt to the BJP ahead of the Punjab polls in 2017, senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and nominated Rajya Sabha MP Navjot Singh Sidhu today resigned from the Upper House.
He was the Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar. But during 2014 polls, he was asked to make way for Arun Jaitley to fight from his constituency Amritsar.
He was recently appointed as Rajya Sabha Parliamentarian. According to sources, Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur, a Parliamentary Secretary in Punjab SAD-BJP govt, may also resign.
Arvind Kejriwal had last year said he will welcome the cricketer-turned politician if he wanted to join AAP.
