Bollywood’s versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has come up with a video in which he is seen giving a message of religious unity. The video features Nawaz holding placards that read 16.66% Hindu, 16.66% Muslim, 16.66 % Christian, 16.66 % Sikh and 16.66 % other religion of the world.
The actor’s message in the video is that when he got his ‘DNA test report’, he discovered that he was 16.66 per cent Hindu, 16.66 per cent Muslim and so on. At the end of the video, the actor says when he discovered his soul he found that he was 100% artist.
Interestingly, Nawaz is seen representing a particular religion with each placard showing the name of the community as he dons the attire of a Hindu, Muslim, Christian and so on.
Nawazuddin is one such actor who is loved by many for his outstanding performance in several big hits. However, off late we have seen several artistes coming under attack after they expressed their opinions. Amid the ongoing row over singer Sonu Nigam’s tweet on azaan, Nawaz has put up a valid point about what being an artiste means.
The video, which appears in the format that Gurmehar Kaur used in her video, Nawaz can be seen flashing a series of placards. The short film is directed by his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui.
The film industry is being targeted increasingly for expressing their religious views. Artistes receive fatwas, films get banned and censored. Recently, when Sonu Nigam tweeted against the use of loudspeakers at places of worship, he drew a lot of flak from religious leaders.
