The National Council Of Educational Research And Training (NCERT) is going to introduce a chapter on ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ in its curriculum  from the next session and will inform the students where and whom to contact in case of any child abuse.

The decision has been taken by the NCERT — an organisation which suggests the Central and state government on school curriculum and textbooks — seeing the amid rise in crime against children in the country.

The NCERT director Hrushikesh Senapathy said, “The Ministry of Child and Women Development had approached the organisation with the suggestion and we are incorporating it in our curriculum from the next session.”

He further informed the media that the back cover of all NCERT books will have illustrations about ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch.’

The director further added that the institution will use easy and comprehensive language to explain the guidelines.

According to Senapathy, helpline numbers will also be provided where the victim or their parents can report a case or seek counseling.

“In brief we will explain about Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POSCO) ACT and NCPCR,” said Senapathy.
