NDRF rescues 29,000 people in various flood-affected states

New Delhi:

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Tuesday said that over 28,000 flood victims have been rescued or evacuated from various affected parts of the country till now.

Multiple teams have been deployed by the central force in the wake of the monsoon in states including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and West Bengal in order to ensure rescue and relief operations.

The NDRF issued a statement - “So far, National Disaster Response Force teams have evacuated or rescued more than 28,950 persons and provided medical assistance to 3,529 people this monsoon season.  Operations are still continuing.”

7,296 people in Bihar, 5,184 in Assam, 2,510 in Uttar Pradesh and 2,484 in West Bengal have been evacuated till now to safer locations, the force said. A 24x7 control room at the force headquarters here is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies, it added.
