Neelum Sharma, DD News anchor, has passed away, announced the national news channel on Saturday. Sharma was conferred with Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018 and had worked with DD News for more than 20 years. She anchored programmes like Badi Charcha, Tejasvini, and has inspired thousands of journalists with her work on Doordarshan. She was battling cancer.

Tributes started pouring in as soon as the news of her death broke out.
Besides anchoring, scripting and research in the electronic media, Sharna was a widely acclaimed documentary filmmaker with more than 60 such films under her name.
