New Rs 2,000 notes will be phased out in next few years, says RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy

As per RSS ideologue and chartered accountant S Gurumurthy, the new Rs 2000 currency notes will be taken out of circulation in planned manner over the next few years.

“Rs 2,000 note was introduced only as a bridge to meet the gap in cash being taken out of circulation,” said Gurumurthy in an interview to India Today.

Gurumurthy was of the view that the government intends to move towards smaller denomination notes and high denomination notes will be phased out in next five years.

Reportedly, S Gurumurthy has often been consulted by PM Modi government while deciding on how to deal with demonetisation.
