Well-known classical Sarod player Amjad Ali Khan says he wish a ‘jugalbandi’ could happen between him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the later playing drums.
Speaking exclusively to News Nation, the famous musician said that he had seen Modi play drums for the first time while on a visit to Japan.
At that time, Khan used to write columns for The Week magazine, and said that he wrote about Modi’s drumming in his columns, describing it as extremely good.
“I had seen Modi ji first time playing drums on his Japan visit. I used to write columns in The Week magazine, where I wrote columns till 10 years at least. I praised Modi ji’s drum playing in my column, and I wrote that I wished I should once play Sarod with Modi ji’s drums," Khan says.
Khan has created many ‘raag’ in the music world. Asked if he would make a raag on Modi’s music too, Khan says, “Only time will tell. If his music inspires me a lot, then maybe I can create a raag in his name.”
