The BJP is headed for a clear win in Gujarat, News Nation exit poll has predicted. The exit poll results show that the saffron party is projected to win at least 135 assembly seats out of 182 in PM Modi’s hometown, while the ruling Congress may settle for maximum of 46 seats.
The exit poll predicts 135-139 seats for BJP, 42-46 for Congress. The state had voted on December 9 and December 14. The counting will be on December 18 along with Gujarat, where voting ended on Thursday.
The survey found that the voters of the state considered development followed by demonetisation and Patidar reservation while casting their franchise.

Gujarat had recorded an estimated 68.70 per cent voter turnout in the second and final phase of polling for 93 Assembly seats. Around 2.22 crore people were eligible to exercise their franchise to choose their representatives from among 851 candidates in the fray. While, on December 9, votes were casted on 89 seats with 977 candidates were in the fray.
According to the survey, 36 per cent people of the state want to see BJP candidate Vijay Rupani as the state's chief minister.
