NGT pulls up Delhi govt, says 'don't gift infected lungs to children'

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday questioned Delhi government over measures to control air pollution and implementing Odd-Even scheme in the national capital.

The NGT had already pulled up the Kejriwal government for giving exemption to women.

The NGT said,”Why it can't run special buses for ladies to solve the problem of transport during Odd-Even scheme?”

The tribunal asked the Delhi government that the latter had stated to ply four thousand buses on roads. "What is the current status on that," it asked.

It further asked, “When reports have stated that two-wheelers are more polluting than four-wheelers, why do you intend to give arbitrary exemptions? Is this a joke? What does one stand to gain from this?”

The NGT said ,”Don't gift infected lungs to children. They have to wear masks to school. What constitutes a health emergency according to you ?

It said,”Measures should be applied automatically by Govt after dangerous levels of PM 2.5 and PM 10 persist for more than 48 hours.”
