Tanzil Ahmed's wife passes away: The Uttar Pradesh Police had on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Tanzil Ahmed and said domestic dispute was the reason behind the crime.

NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed's wife passes away at AIIMS hospital

The wife of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer Tanzil Ahmed, who was shot dead earlier in April in Uttar Pradesh, passed away at the All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Wednesday. NIA said in a statement that Farzana Ahmed was battling for her life at AIIMS trauma centreafter suffering bullet wounds and said that she succumbed to her injuries at 10.45 AM.

Two men in a bike had attacked Tanzil Ahmed, his wife Farzana and two children when they were traveling in a car. The family was coming back to Delhi from a family wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district. (Also Read: Murder case of NIA officer solved, two held: UP Police)

The attackers stopped their car and shot Ahmed 16 times. Ahmed told his children aged 14 and 11 to duck when the shots were fired. The Uttar Pradesh Police had on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Tanzil Ahmed and said domestic dispute was the reason behind the crime.

IG (Bareilly Zone) Vijay Kumar Meena told a press conference that the trio followed on motorcycle the NIA Deputy SP after a wedding reception of a relative on the intervening night of April 2 and 3.

He said the nephew of Ahmed’s brother-in-law Rehan and his accomplice Zainul have been arrested and added that the police would soon nab the alleged mastermind Muneer. (Also Read: NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed killing: More than 100 quizzed, none arrested)

They overtook his vehicle at Sahaspur village and one of them, identified as Muneer, allegedly pumped bullets in his body killing him on the spot, he said. His wife was critically injured in the shoot out, but his two children escaped unhurt.
