New Delhi:

After a day-long dramatic debate on the historic no-confidence motion, the NDA government on Friday sailed through the greatest ever challenge in the Lok Sabha.

The no-confidence motion, which was on July 18 moved by the Opposition against the NDA government, has been rejected with 325 MPs in Lok Sabha voted ‘No’ and 126 'Yes'. As many as 451 MPs were present in the House for Friday's trust vote.

However, members of the Shiv Sena, BJD and TRS were not present in the House during the trust vote while AIADMK members opposed the motion, in a boost to the NDA.

Meanwhile, moments after the predictable victory, PM Modi took to micro-bogging site Twitter and expressed his gratitude for supporting his government in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

"NDA has the confidence of the Lok Sabha and the 125-crore people of India. I thank all the parties that have supported us in the vote today. Our efforts to transform India and fulfil the dreams of our youth continue. Jai Hind!," Modi wrote.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister launched a scathing attack on Congress, dubbing the no-confidence motion a result of the opposition's "arrogance" and its 'Modi hatao' mindset.

PM Modi was basically responding to Congress president Rahul Gandhi's 15-minute-long stormy speech earlier in the day. Modi also took a dig at the Gandhi scion over his "childish" behaviour to make him stand before hugging.

Hours after Gandhi left everyone surprised by walking across to the Prime Minister's chair to hug him, Modi sought to turn the tables on him, saying he appeared to be in a hurry to occupy his seat as he kept asking him to stand up for an embrace.

NDA's massive victory on Friday came as a great disappointment for Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, who is the brainchild of no-confidence motion.

Reacting to Opposition's defeat, Naidu said, "Entire Andhra Pradesh waited for justice, only to be disappointed again. They have majority but they breached "neeti". PM's speech caused much pain".

"All the people should show their protest again. All people should unite in raising voice against the Centre. Those parties supporting BJP also should be taught a lesson," the TDP leader added.
