Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday released a video wishing people Makar Sankranti. In the video message, a picture of veteran BJP leader LK Advani can be seen in the background. The video has now gone viral on social media as this is probably for the first time when there’s no photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah visible in the office of senior party leader.
"Wishing all the best wishes of Makar Sankranti to all the people. From today sun will turn Uttarayan. This period is considered as auspicious and sacred. It is said that this period is considered to be the age of God. So, I wish all the best wishes to sisters and brothers,” he said in the video message.
Chouhan, who was recently appointed as national vice president of the BJP, is considered close to LK Advani. He was given a role in central leadership after the party faced a drubbing in the state in the recently held assembly elections.
In a related development, BJP leader and one of the party's founding members Sanghpriya Gautam suggested radical changes within the organisation and the government if the BJP wishes to retain power at the Centre after the Lok Sabha polls.
The 88-year-old leader advocated making Chouhan the party chief and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari the deputy prime minister and Home Minister Rajnath Singh the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. "If it is not done, it will difficult for Narendra Modi to come back as prime minister," the former Union minister told PTI.
