None of Madhya Pradesh espionage racket accused were party members: BJP

BJP said on none of the accused arrested in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly being part of a Pakistan-run espionage racket were ever its members. 

With Congress releasing photographs of some accused in the company of BJP leaders, Union minister Jitendra Singh said such pictures do not have an evidentiary value and that photographs showing Congress leaders with BJP's will not make them its members. 

"The state unit has already issued a clarification. None of the accused has even been BJP's office-bearers. Such photographs have no evidence in public life," he told a press conference. 

Eleven people were arrested from different places of Madhya Pradesh on February 9 for being part of an alleged espionage racket being run from Pakistan to collect strategic information on important Indian establishments. 

Singh declined to comment on demand for a CBI probe into the suspected suicide of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul, saying the state government would take a call. 

BJP is in power in the north eastern state. The deceased's wife made the demand here today as she made public his suicide note in which he had levelled allegations against several people.
