Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and BJP vice-president Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said that his party was not trying to topple the Kamal Nath-led state government, but he can’t do anything if it “falls due to infighting” within the Congress party.
“Now, if the Congress (government) falls due to infighting in the party, then we cannot do anything. We are not dislodging anyone, but whatever is going on there (in MP) is not good,” PTI quoted Shivraj Singh Chouhan as saying.
Chouhan, who was in Lucknow to address the district-level heads of BJP’s membership drive, said this in response to a question that whether the saffron party will form government in Madhya Pradesh before the next Assembly elections.

The Congress party ended its 15-year power drought in Madhya Pradesh by defeating the Shivraj Singh Chauhan-led BJP in the 2018 Assembly elections. The Congress emerged as single largest party and formed the government with the support of BSP and SP MLAs.
The former MP chief minister said that he was a “staunch supporter” of PM Modi’s “One Nation, One Election” idea and Lok Sabha elections should be held simultaneously with Assembly elections of all states.
“I am a staunch supporter of One Nation, One Election. And, I have been supporting this concept while I was the chief minister. Continuous polls disrupt development and derail the country, as all political parties are engaged 24x7 in preparations for the next elections,” Chouhan added.
