A class nine tribal student was allegedly gangraped by four men wearing camouflage uniforms on Tuesday, who the victim’s brother alleged to be jawans of Border Security Force (BSF) engaged in anti-Naxal operations.
Koraput superintendent of police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh, “The victim in her statement had said that her perpetrators were in uniform.”
He added, “We have registered a case at Pottangi police station.”
However, the BSF deputy inspector general (DIG), denied the involvement of any paramilitary jawans in the case.
According to the rape survivor’s brother, the victim was returning from Musuliguda village in the district after registering her biometrics for Aadhar card.
He added that jawans intercepted her near Kunulihaata area and took her to a nearby forest where she the BSF jawans allegedly took turns to rape the minor.
He added that his sister was rescued by a relative who later admitted her to a hospital.
Nayak denying involvement of BSF men in the alleged rape case of minor said, “Our nearest camp is 35 kilometers from the reported site. BSF does not operate in that area.”
The victim stated to be critical is undergoing treatment in Koraput district hospital.
