New Delhi:

Leader of opposition in J&K legislative assembly and former state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday met Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Both the leaders discussed the ground zero situation in Kashmir.

The meeting lasted for 30 minutes wherein Omar voiced concern over the present situation in the Valley and the failure of PDP-BJP government. The space for mainstream politics was shrinking, he said.

Omar has accused the Mehbooba Mufti-led state government of failing to boost police force’s morale which had been able to weed out militancy more or less till 2013, party sources said.

Sources further added that both Omar and Gandhi expressed concern over the increasing number of terror activities in the Kashmir Valley. Both the leaders also discussed about the upcoming Presidential poll wherein they decided to place an Opposition candidate.

Omar has always been critical towards the Mehbooba government and he has expressed his anger in a series of tweets.
