Ramdas Athawale’s Stinging Poetic Attack On Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP Trio

New Delhi:

Union Minister and Republic Party of India (RPI) Ramdas Athawale on Saturday blamed Shiv Sena for the dramatic turn of events in Maharashtra. Bringing his poetic skills out during the media interaction, Ramdas Athawale took a jibe at the three parties which were supposed to together and form the government in Maharashtra. He said, "Shiv Sena ko BJP ne latka diya hai, Congress ko fatka diya hai, aur NCP ko apne jaal mein atka diya hai." A video of his poetry has also gone viral.

The poem from Ramdas Athawale comes hours after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) formed the government in Maharashtra.

Talking to the media, Ramdas Athawale urged NCP chief Sharad Pawar to walk over to the NDA camp, hinting that he might be rewarded with a plum portfolio at the Centre. "Sharad Pawar, too, should consider revising his stance and joining the NDA. He may get some good portfolio at the Centre," Athawale added.

It is to be noted that Maharashtra’s month-long political impasse ended dramatically today early morning with Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar took oath as chief minister and deputy chief minister, respectively. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath to Fadnavis and Pawar at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai around 7.30 AM.

This comes at a time when deliberations between the Congress, the NCP and Shiv Sena to form a government in Maharashtra reached the final stage on Friday and the three parties inched closer to announce an alliance.

The BJP, which emerged as the single largest party in the state elections last month, could not earlier stake claim to form a government after it could not reach an agreement with its former ally Shiv Sena on its "50:50" demand. The BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member assembly followed by the Shiv Sena (56). The NCP won 54 seats and the Congress had won 44 seats.
