Senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has finally spoken up about the party’s show-cause notice served to his son and Indore MLA Akash Vijayvargiya. The lawmaker said that the BJP was ‘everything’ for the family and they are ready for strictest possible action against Akash Vijayvargiya. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is our supreme leader. His decision is final,” Vijayvargiya senior was quoted as saying by The Indian Express. He also added that his son will duly give his side of the story.
The BJP’s show-cause notice comes after PM Modi’s brutal rebuke to the young politician. The Prime Minister had said that such act won’t be tolerated. He had also said that no matter whose son the culprit is, he/she should be thrown out of party.
The son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya had assaulted municipal officer Dhirendra Singh Bais, 46, with a cricket bat in full public view on Wednesday while opposing demolition of a dilapidated house in Indore.
He was arrested and a magistrate's court sent him to judicial custody till July 11 after denying him bail. On Thursday, he was arrested in another case where he is accused of leading a protest on June 4 over power cuts without obtaining mandatory permissions.
There were reports that BJP chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also sought a report from Vijayvargiya. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media. The incident is hurting the party's image. Senior leaders in the BJP at the Centre want to know the exact sequence of events, NDTV report said. “The party will take a call on what to do with the son of the party leader after studying all the facts of the case,” the report added.
Earlier, the BJP general secretary has termed the bat assault incident involving his MLA son Akash Vijayvargiya as "unfortunate", saying the latter raised his voice in support of a poor family and not a builder. He said both his son and the civic administration were "novice players" and that the dispute could have been avoided.
