Security has been beefed up in the city with intensified patrolling and checking of places of accommodation to prevent anti-social elements from creating any law and order issues, police said on Saturday.
The measures come at a time when political uncertainty has gripped the state following Chief Minister O Panneerselvam’s revolt against AIADMK chief V K Sasikala.
“The officers of Chennai Police have been instructed to conduct round-the-clock checks of lodges, mansions, service apartments and kalyana mandapams (marriage halls) to prevent anti-socials and rowdy elements from taking shelter with the intention to create law and order issues,” a police release said.
